BlastGard International's BlastWrap® Technology Heralded in the Journal of Mine Action
CLEARWATER FL, April 3, 2006 - BlastGard International's (OTCBB: BLGA) BlastWrap® blast-mitigating technology was praised recently in the Journal of Mine Action. The illustrated essay was written by Dr. Glenn Miles of Lockheed Martin UK INSYS Limited, a leading international defense contractor.
In his Journal of Mine Action essay, published Tuesday, March 7, 2006, Dr. Miles says he has been inspired by "some good experiences Lockheed Martin UK INSYS Ltd. has had with a particular blast-mitigation product." That product is BlastWrap®.
Technologies developed to provide protection from blasts, Dr. Miles says, must perform the following functions:
- Blast mitigation from a single explosive hazard "in situ"
- Blast mitigation for an explosive-hazards storage area
- Protection of materials, structures and people in areas close to the site of an explosive hazard or explosive-hazards storage area
"In order to fulfill these functions," he continues, "any workable solution must have the following essential characteristics: flexibility and ease of use; low cost; high, scalable performance; low density; very low environmental impact; (and) longevity."
According to Dr. Miles, "BlastWrap® performs exceptionally well against these parameters."
