BlastGard Introduces the World's First Effective Bomb Mitigating Trash Receptacle

Since 9/11, Companies Claiming "Bomb Proof" Products Have Flooded The US Market.

BlastGard's Models MTR 91 & MTR 101 Are The Only Product To Mitigate Blast Force, Capture All Fragmentation And Instantly Extinguish Fireballs

March 8, 2005 - Tampa, FL and Houston, TX - BlastGard International, Inc. (OTCBB: BLGA), the creator of blast mitigation products and services, today announced that it has completed extensive testing and is ready to market a line of U.S. made, bomb mitigating Trash Receptacles. The Trash Receptacles, models MTR 91 and MTR 101, produced in conjunction with Centerpoint Manufacturing, Inc. have undergone the most stringent testing to date. The BlastGard Mitigated Trash Receptacles reduce the pressure from a very large charge from 60.47 PSI (100% fatal) to 7.5 PSI (eardrum damage) at ten feet.

BlastGard MTR's address the many issues concerning bomb mitigation that have previously gone uncorrected. When a blast occurs in the highest standard receptacle available, the force exits through the mouth of the unit and rapidly reforms as a spherical blast wave of comparable power to that of an unconfined charge. On the other hand, BlastGard incorporates protective, blast-mitigating components, which suppress 85% of the original force. Furthermore, BlastGard MTR Trash Receptacles immediately extinguish the fireball and capture all fragments.

"Frankly, at the beginning of this journey we were shocked to learn that there are no regulatory product or testing standards for blast resistant trash receptacles in the U.S.," stated James Gordon, CEO of BlastGard International. "In today's world, Americans need protection, and it is terrifying to know that their safety is being compromised. We are also applying our technologies to many other sectors and industries that require blast mitigation protection including gear for first responders, aviation, military personnel and machinery, oil pipelines, building materials and wraps, and trash receptacles, to limit the hazards of an explosion."

Kevin Sharpe, Vice President of Research and Development, of BlastGard, said, "Bottom line, the products already on the market could do much more to safeguard the people and property they claim to protect. In fact, existing 'bomb proof'" products actually focus the explosive blast forces. They do not protect against the fireball, and can even produce lethal fragments. Under extensive testing, BlastGard's MTR units suppress the force of a very large charge, even when it is placed against the vulnerable sidewall weld seam. The units dramatically reduce blast pressures, instantly extinguish the fireball within 4 milliseconds, all while maintaining complete structural integrity."

Blast Effect:

PSI = Pounds Per Square Inch
@ 1 psi = A person will experience an unpleasant jolt
@ 3 psi = The onset of eardrum damage
@ 6 psi = The eardrum will burst, but will heal in a couple of weeks
@ 10 psi = A person will be knocked down or possible thrown, but will walk away
@ 15 psi = Edema (severe lung damage) will occur and without immediate medical attention can be fatal
@ 25 psi = The force can tear the human body to pieces
@ 50 psi = The force of the blast causes extreme physiological damage and is often fatal

A Normal Trash Receptacle with a very large charge = 60.47 psi @ 10 Feet
A BlastGard MTR 101 Trash Receptacle with a very large charge = 7.5 psi @ 10 Feet
