Improvised Explosive Devices,
or IED's, refer to any type of device that contains an initiator and
either an explosive product or toxic chemicals, biological toxins, or
radiological materials, and is used to cause death and destruction to
individuals or structures. IED's come in many forms and sizes, and use
different delivery methods.
A product like BlastWrap® can help reduce the amount of fatalities and destruction caused from Improvised Explosive Devices.

an IED can be lessened tremendously. While it is impossible to prevent
every IED detonation, it is possible to reduce the effects and save

buildings, parked aircraft, vehicles subjected to mine blasts,

detonation, or a chain reaction type detonation. BlastWrap®
rapidly quenches blast environments. This can prevent the ignition of
spilled fuels and other combustible materials that would otherwise
occur due to the intense heat release of improvised explosive devices.
The cooling ability also helps dramatically reduce quasi-static
pressure in confined spaces, which is generally the most destructive
mechanism in these events. BlastWrap® can also reduce ballistic
impact. It prevents ammunition or other energetic material that's
usually found in IED's from reacting in an energetic fashion.
