Explosion Protection

The Explosion Protection specialists at BlastGard International have developed the patent pending BlastWrap® product. BlastWrap® is not a chemical compound. It is a material made from two flexible films, which can be fitted to any application, that suppresses explosions and fire blasts.

BlastWrap® has been specifically developed to protect the lives of people and to reduce damage to valuable assets from explosions. Whether the explosions are accidental or not, BlastWrap® can reduce blast pressures by 50% or more, and save the lives of many people. Due to recent alerts and heightened Homeland Security measures that are being taken, the importance of explosion protection products has unfortunately increased.

Many questions might arise about BlastWrap® and its effectiveness in explosion protection. Below you will find answers to some of the more common questions.

What does BlastWrap® do?

BlastWrap® is designed to dissipate substantial portions of blast energy and rapidly quench flame fronts and fireballs. The filler removes substantial amounts of energy from impinging shock waves, almost regardless of intensity and chemical compound, and dramatically suppresses shock reflections in confined spaces. It also serves to quench, or rapidly cool, impinging fireballs and hot explosion gases.

What is BlastWrap® made of?

BlastWrap® products are made from two flexible films arranged one over the other and joined by a plurality of seams filled with attenuating filler material (volcanic glass bead or other suitable two-phase materials), configured (designed for each application) with an extinguishing coating that offers a revolutionary explosion protection system against all blast and fire/burn threats.

What applications can BlastWrap® be used for?

BlastWrap® can be used for many applications for explosion protection and is specifically designed for the military, law enforcement agencies, and government agencies. Because of its make up, BlastWrap® can be conformed to any product. It can be used for underwater use and works indoors or out, vented or un-vented, wet or dry, clean or dirty, damaged or intact, and against strong or weak blasts from solid explosives or flammable fluids.
